the bike

We have all wanted a bicycle at some point. Although we think we know everything about this great medium, studies continue to be published that support and encourage its growth, and provide arguments that promote its use against internal combustion vehicles.

A little history

The father of the bicycle was the German Karl Drais (1785 - 1851) and he created it in 1817, which was the first two-wheeled vehicle, called a walking machine, or in German "Laufmaschine". It consisted of a kind of cart with two wheels, one in front and one behind, and a handlebar.
If we talk about the pedal bicycle, the fathers were the French blacksmith Pierre Michaux (1813 – 1883) and the Scottish Kirkpatrick Macmillan (1812 – 1878) originated in the year 1839. From then on and based on these creators, the bicycle has evolved to what we know today.

In the past it represented an important means of transportation, but in the modern world it has become a necessity .
There is no doubt that, thanks to technological advances, there are innovative and super-equipped vehicles, but they have become a threat to life on the planet, as we well know, due to the waste they generate.

As an alternative and whenever we can, we should opt for the bike, since it is good for everyone.

Healthy person → Healthy society

The person who incorporates the bike as a regular means of transport reduces the risk of a heart attack, strengthens the lower back, prevents the appearance of herniated discs and provides the brain with more oxygen. Among many other advantages that improve physical and mental health.

Saving

Both the initial investment, maintenance, and cycling clothing cost much less than common alternatives. In addition, this fact will gain even more weight over the next few years, thanks to the measures implemented by more and more countries.
There is a misconception that says: "The economic system does not promote the use of bikes because they can change the economic system"

Present

According to a Danish study, which evaluates the most cyclable cities on the planet, it can be seen that only Barcelona appears as a Spanish city among the top 20 on its list, with the first places being: Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Antwerp. Although the infrastructure of these countries is enviable, we can argue that the climatology balances the equation, since the average temperatures in Spain are higher than those of these countries.

The pandemic has been a turning point for this medium , as it made Spain have much higher than expected bicycle sales (1,565,233 bicycles sold in 2020), even more than cars . So it could be said that thanks to the pandemic, many people reconsidered their habits and even replaced the car with the bicycle.
This directly influenced the sales of accessories, such as cycling clothing and other accessories.
Within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda for the Basque Country we have SDG 11, which encourages citizens to be more ecological, for which one of the first steps is to opt for green transport.

Worldwide, it is expected that by 2050 there will be around 2.5 billion more people living in cities, which will increase the use of bicycles per capita by 72%.

One of the keys is in the small daily decisions of all citizens. The willingness to walk instead of taking the car or the determination to use the bike to go to work. Remember a drop of water is insignificant, but the force of the sea is colossal.

What we (ROGERBRIZ®) can do in this regard is set an example as a company by transforming processes into more efficient ones, opting for fabrics with a lower CO2 footprint, with 100% centralized manufacturing in the Basque Country, and offering excellent cycling clothing. .
